The New Tweed

My jacket from nastygal just arrived and I really like it, though the fit is a bit different. The jacket fits just right around the shoulders but maybe there is a bit too much fabric in the front. But it's going to be perfect for the French autumn and winter.

Three (not because they're trendy) Trend Obsessions: Preppy

I remember my ten year old self admiring my older sister who was going through her tween days. Her crisp pink Lacoste polo looked so pristine, but then she elevated her look when she 'popped the collar'. So taken my this preppy look I (unlike my friends) didn't mind that the upcoming school year ,as a middle school freshman,  would have a strict polo dress code. All the kids complained while I was secretly giddy.

6th grade went by and I enjoyed some fashion hits but endured my fair share of misses. THEN our parents told my sisters and me that we were going to move back to Mexico City. I was shocked, however my mom then mentioned we were going to an all girls catholic school. The ultimate preppy dream! I couldn't believe my luck, who needs friends when you can sport an awesome pleated skirt?

7th grade too passed, but not before gifting me the holly grail... Gossip Girl. Then we moved back to Florida and my prep had clearly evolved, I wore those Blair inspired oversized bow headbands with my new short bob.  Eventually my prep wore down (thank god) but now I look at this trend with both fondness and caution, a bow easily goes from cute to ... well not.

Some words of wisdom from the lady herself, Blair Waldorf -

Here's my advice. Have a little faith, and if that doesn't work, have a lot of mimosas.

Chill

I have so much holiday homework (like most of it!) to finish, and time's almost up. So my social life isn't going to be looking too good. Here's hoping this chill song lessen the pain :p

Barca!

Aix

With the summer's ending looming I was going through some old pictures from last year, when my mom dropped me off for boarding school. It was the first time I had ever visited Aix-en-Provence, and I couldn't believe how perfect it was; like a freaking fairy tale! Now that I'm going back in a few weeks I look forward to cherishing my year there to the fullest.

Dream World

I have always been a lover of film and television but you know in those interviews when they ask an actor or director questions like What is the first film that impacted you? I don't know why, but since I can remember I have ,in a day dreaming way, interviewed myself and I can never remember what movie was the first to really impact me. It is a bit frustrating because I really do love films, it is a huge passion in my life so coming up black with such a simple question is unnerving.

You Nasty : Nasty Gal Shopping Cart

I have always loved online shopping, but this love has increased thanks to the Florida summer weather. It did not stop raining today so my sister and I got a pizza and just chilled at home with our puppy. I too visited some of my favorite sites and made this wish list , everything in this list is from Nasty Gal and under 50 bucks!

Riding Easy

I love me some Lorde and this remix is just great.

Brigitte Bardot ( The Pessimiss )

Natalie Wood ( Fashion Martyrtard )

Eiffel Tower ( Paris Attractions )

Girl On The Go (Elle Russia)
Today served as another easy going day, with the school year looming I am treasuring my last week of so called freedom.  Today was pretty productive in the wardrobe department, I got a great jacket from  nastygal and a pair of tall boots for school. Online shopping is the greatest and I intend to take full advantage of it.

Three ( not because they're trendy) Trend Obsessions : Goth

Lately I've been experimenting with goth inspired makeup, and this has awakened a further interest and admiration for the gothic look. I've never been one to label the way I dress but I can tell you it has never been described as gothic. I now wish to change that ,now and then, by trying on this new style hat.

An other element to this blossoming obsession is the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy. I loved the books, the original films and I'm (not so) patiently waiting for the second film of the American trilogy. Lisbeth Salander's character is excellent, a modern day super hero and my new idol. She shows us how despite everything one can choose to overcome the most impossible of challenges or attacks and come out swinging like a badass in every sense of the word.

Perhaps the final reason why ( you see I love to psychoanalyze myself ) I am being drawn to the dark side, is the over saturation of  pre chewed pre packaged commercial products ,no I don't consider them 'artists', into the media and hence our lives. Don't get my wrong I will get up and dance like a nobodies business if Barbie Girl comes on, but all these manufactured acts are less of a sugar rush and more cringe inducing. I have dealt with these one way frustrations by tuning in to some old favorites from Epica to The Cure, Zola Jesus and more. This music oozes with emotion while some of the top 40's catchy as hell lyrics act more like parasites.
